Guizhou Netcom, a provincial branch of China Netcom, has begun collaboration with Alcatel Shanghai Bell to construct a WiMAX pilot network in Guiyang, China. The network conforms to IEEE 802.16d standards and will use the 3.5GHz frequency band for testing. A WiMAX test point has been deployed in Guiyang and another nine test points are projected for Guiyang in the near future. No specific timetable or roadmap has been disclosed.
